I-GO is PROUD of Diversity
Sunday, June 24th, the I-GO team and our incomparable partner, the Windy City Rollers took to the streets of Lakeview in the 38th Annual Gay Pride parade. "It was so much fun representing I-GO with the Windy City Rollers", said CNT staff member Annette Stahelin, "They put so much thought and creativity into it!" I-GO and the WCR (www.windycityrollers.com) decorated an orange Honda Element in a "space ship" theme, and donned crazy costumes including Judy Jetson, a giant robot, and a whole lot of silver lame. The "Roller Girls from Space" were a huge hit down the Halsted and Broadway parade route as the crowds roared with delight in seeing their favorite derby girl. I-GO is happy to serve all communities, and celebrating equality is just a small part of what we do. Since parking in Boystown and Andersonville is so difficult, why not let I-GO take care of it for you!

Member Profile: Michael Talbot
Michael has been an outstanding I-Go member for 2 years. Like a lot of us, he joined as a result of selling his car. Michael enjoys the convenience of I-Go when he's picking up friends and family from the airport and making trips to Trader Joe's on the weekend.
Not only does Michael use I-Go for his personal use, but he also uses the program for his business, Partners by DESIGN, an architectural firm in the River North area. According to Michael:
We had been using Enterprise Rent-A-Car regularly to attend client meetings outside of the city. It occurred to me that it was a lot more expensive for us and our clients to rent cars from a for-profit car rental agency than to support a local, non-profit, community-based car sharing program like I-GO. It is also made sense for PBD to support I-GO and the Center for Neighborhood Technology because we share their value of sustainability, which is an important aspect of the service we provide to our clients through sustainable design principles. I-GO was willing to add a car just a couple of blocks from our office so that it would feasible for us to become a business member.

Please remember that if you wash or gas up a car (only if the tank is at 1/4 or less), to write your member number on the receipt. Also, please put this receipt in the clear envelope in the glove box labeled "gas receipts". This will help us make sure you get your credit in a timely fashion. Thank you for your help!

I-GO Helps Pitchfork Go Green
I-GO member, Aicha Menendez will be assisting Pitchfork Music Festival in their recycling and material recovery program this summer. The project is a result of participating in the city's Department of Environment Chicago Conservation Corps.
Chicago-based Pitchfork Media curates the Pitchfork Music Festival, an annual outdoor music festival in Union Park featuring local and national indie rock and jazz. And the event generates a lot of trash. Guests are expected to toss 100,000 water bottles, 500,000 plastic cups and tons of paper and aluminum. Aicha has organized a volunteer crew to get the word out - Pitchfork supports diverting that material from the landfill.
The Green Task Force will assist food and drink vendors in collecting reusable material, encourage guests to bring plastic to the recycling bin and educate the public about recycling and source reduction. The City of Chicago mandates that festivals install recycling bins. However, no one mandates they are used. Aicha's Green Task Force intends to encourage guests to recycle and think about their habits of consumption.
Pitchfork Music Festival is July 13, 14 and 15. The Green Task Force will be rewarding green guests with a $50 discount on new memberships and a copy of I GO's Audio Emissions CD. For more information about Pitchfork go to www.pitchforkmusicfestival.com
